Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, better called Ari Lennox, is an American musician and singer born in Washington, D.C., who was the first woman to sign with J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. Dreamville Records released her debut EP, Pho, in October of 2016 when she began getting noticed. Shea Butter Baby is her debut album. It came out in May 2019. Ari Lennox first uploaded music online in 2012. Her debut album Ariography as well as her debut mixtape in 2013 with the mixtape Five Finger Discount. In 2014, Ari Lennox dropped her own single Bound along with her self-released mixtape Five Finger Discount. The track Sweat it is part of Omen's Elephant Eyes album on July 21st, 2015. J. Cole had her sing her songs to the Dreamville Team later that year as he wanted Rihanna to collaborate with her on some references. The news was released on December 8, that she had signed with Dreamville Records. Backseat was her contribution to the Revenge of the Dreamers II album. On October 21, 2016 her debut EP was released, titled Pho. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's track Change and was an opening act on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in the year 2017. The singer also performed on the tracks Nothing but the Best by EarthGang and Icarus together with Bas and her labelmates. On the 16th of July in 2018, Ari Lennox released the first single Whipped Cream of her album debut Shea Butter Baby with an accompanying music video that was released on the 5th of September. The second single she released was Grampa on November 9. Two additional singles were also released by her on November 13, titled Pedigree and No One. Shea Butter Baby is a track that she recorded with Cole on Creed II's soundtrack on the 16th of November. It then came out as a single on its own in February 2019, to coincide with her debut album. It was released with the music video which debuted in February 20th, 2019 that surpassed three million views via YouTube in the first week. In December of 2018 she performed on the From East Atlanta With Love Tour that featured 6LACK.
