Kim Delaney (born Kim Delaney) is an American actress best recognized for her role as detective Diane Russell in ABCs NYPD Blue in which she was awarded the Emmy Award. She has also starred in shows like All My Children Philly CSI: Miami, Army Wives and CSI: Miami. Delaney was the sole child of her homemaker mother and high-ranking executive of her union, the United Auto Workers. Delaney lived most of her life in the company of four brothers. When she was a kid, Delaney dreamed about becoming a court reporter. Her modeling career began in high school and then gaining commercials when she moved into New York. Her first film role was as a teen innocent on All My Children, a soap opera from 1981. Delaney was a talented young actress from the 1980s has appeared in several films TV movies and in dramas. Her career as a professional has been much more lucrative than her personal life. The talented actress has had to deal with addiction issues in the past as well as two divorces. The actress lost custody of her son in 2005.
